Shopping Center set to Open March 22, 2012
SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 15, 2010 – Taubman Centers, owner and operator of the retail portion of the City Creek mixed-use development, has named Linda Wardell as general manager of City Creek’s retail operations. Effective January 5, 2011, Wardell will be responsible for retailer relations, marketing, tourism, sponsorship and community outreach for the retail center.
Retail operations at City Creek will feature approximately 800,000 square feet of shopping and dining space. Unique attributes will include a fully retractable glass roof, a skybridge over Main Street and a realistic re-creation of City Creek, the snow-fed stream that once coursed through the city. Located just across the street from Temple Square, Taubman’s stores and restaurants will be known as City Creek Center.
"People are so excited about City Creek Center," says Wardell. "My goal is to exceed everyone’s expectations and to make City Creek Center a world-class, memorable experience for families, tourists and anyone who visits."
The retail center anchors and complements the 23-acre City Creek master plan developed by City Creek Reserve, Inc. When completed in 2012, the sustainably designed, walkable urban community of offices, residences and shops will make Salt Lake City one of few cities in the nation with a vibrant, mixed-use development at its core.
A seasoned retail executive, Linda Wardell has more than 20 years experience in shopping center management, marketing and operations, most recently with Taubman over the last four years. Prior to that, she spent 9 years with Glimcher Realty Trust where she opened two new shopping centers and served as vice president of marketing.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Wardell earned her B.A. in communications from Mercer University in Macon.
City Creek Center opens March 22, 2012. The center is located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, just blocks from the intersection of I-15 and I-80, and a 15-minute drive from Salt Lake City International Airport. The centerpiece of a sustainably designed urban community, City Creek Center will feature a unique shopping environment with a retractable roof, a creek winding through the property, a pedestrian skybridge, fountains and more. Anchored by Macy’s and Nordstrom, this world-class fashion and dining destination will offer approximately 80 stores and restaurants in a casual, walkable environment.
